49.3 miles, 1413 metres climbed, 1391 metres descended, temperature about 25C. Yet another blue sky day, a little chilly at the start but warmed up quickly on the first short sharp climbs.<\/p>\n

Coffee came at 19 miles at the top a longish climb. A nice location with swings overlooking the valley we descended into. There were 2 eagles (possibly?) soaring overhead.<\/p>\n

The run to lunch was on a good surfaced road where good progress was made despite the head and cross winds<\/p>\n

I can\u2019t believe it\u2019s Day 5 and I haven\u2019t mentioned cobbles! In the majority of towns and villages we pass through the streets are paved with cobbles making riding a little uncomfortable and interrupting any rhythm we might have.<\/p>\n

Monsanto, our destination, is another hill top town with a steep long climb up to it. It didn\u2019t fill me with confidence when it came. into view.<\/p>\n

I have to admit that some walking was involved at the very top to get to the hotel.<\/p>\n
